Lewistown, Maryland, is beautiful community of mixed rural and suburban charm. Home to less than 2,000 residents, this community is located about 50 miles outside of the nation's capital within Frederick County. The area was settled by English and German migrants in the 1700s and 1800s. Descendents of those families still remain, and today nearly one third of Lewistown residents report German ancestry.
Like many other communities around it, Lewistown was once all farm lands. New commercial and residential construction and population booms since the 1960s have brought modern real estate developments to the area, and new construction is on-going in some neighborhoods even today.

The preferred home construction style here is colonial, and many streets in this community are lined with trees. The region has a growing economy, which is why unemployment here is significantly lower than the national rate of 5 percent. Recent local job growth is outpacing national average job growth, and economists project future job growth to be nearly three times at the national rate.
