Falmouth Real Estate

Located about half-way between the nation's capital city and that of Virginia, Falmouth, Virginia, is a culturally diverse community that enjoys a peaceful, rural atmosphere. Boarded by the Potomac River to the east and the Rappahannock River to the south, Falmouth offers its residents access to numerous outdoor activities such as boating, fishing, hiking and golfing.

The community of about 28,000 residents is quiet, and has virtually no crime. It is located close to the Quantico Marine base, and numerous shopping and dining venues. Falmouth real estate offerings include townhouses, condominium units, and single-family homes, typically built in colonial or brick rambler style. Some of the properties are located along lush golf courses; land lots of custom real estate development are also available.

Homes for sale range in price mostly between $170,000 and $330,000, but there are also numerous properties that sell for less. A few select, larger homes also sell for upwards of $400,000. The average property sells for about $205,000.

Falmouth is home to mostly families with children. Many of the community's residents commute to the Washington area for jobs. Most of the drive, and have easy access to Interstate 95. Nevertheless, many also take the Virginia Railway Express, which stops in Falmouth. The average household income here is about $67,000, or significantly higher than the national average.

The education needs of Falmouth's younger residents are met by the public schools of Stafford County, which offer diverse programs in the areas of art, health and physical education, and music. Graduation rates here are high, and most students go on to pursue a college degree.

Numerous historic landmarks are located near Falmouth, and enjoyed by residents in their time off work. The Ferry Farm, George Washington's boyhood home, offers 550 acres of parkland to explore. Nearby are also about 9,000 acres of land where major Civil War battles took place.
