Fairfax Station Real Estate

Fairfax Station, Virginia, once a rural area dotted with farms, is now a growing, modern residential neighborhood of some 19,000 residents. Located just 10 miles southwest of the nation's capital, this picturesque, quiet neighborhood of excellent schools and virtually no crime was ranked by Cachet Magazine among the top 10 for "Best Quality of Life" areas, nationwide.

Affluent Fairfax Station's tree-lined streets and old homes with white picket fences make it an attractive place to live. The community's small town feeling is complimented its close proximity to Washington, DC, which offers residents a gateway to a more fast-paced, cosmopolitan life within minutes of driving.

Completely residential with no commercial development, the real estate market here is one of the most prized in the area. Houses here tend to be luxury residences on wooded lots, surrounded by rolling hills. Planned communities offer a variety of amenities such as clubhouses, paved trails and community pools.
Most properties are brick, colonial style single-family homes of at least four bedrooms. The average home sells for just over $600,000, and was built since the 1960s.

Nearly 90 percent of residents are college educated, a fact reflected in the medium household income of about $153,000, which is nearly four times higher than the national average. Local children are also on the path to a good education, as they attend excellent K-12 schools part of the Fairfax County Public School System, which boasts high test scores and graduation rates for its pupils. Most Fairfax Station high schoolers go on to pursue a college degree.

Fairfax Station is just a short drive to shopping hubs, national monuments, museums and parks, fine dining, and popular cultural attractions. It is also around the corner from historic and cultural attractions in the historic communities of nearby Clifton and Burke, which date back to the 1700s and played an important role during the Civil War.
