Dale City Real Estate

Dale City is a friendly and diverse community located about 35 miles outside of Washington, DC. Its 56,000 residents enjoy plentiful recreational activities, good shopping and dinning, rich history, and countless outdoor activities and annual festivals for families to enjoy together.

Aptly called “The Friendliest Little City Around,” Dale City was conceived in the 1950s. It is a community with very low crime and excellent K-12 schools where most of their students graduate and go on to pursue college degrees.

As part of Prince William County, which dates back to the early 1700s, the community is in close proximity to historic Civil War battle fields, and other sites and monuments of significance to American history.

Dale City offers homes that are only a few decades old, and new housing keeps cropping up. The market is predominantly made up of single family homes of medium size, or with about three or four bedrooms. There are also some row houses and attached homes. The community is made up of a mix of owners and renters. In January 2006, the median home sold for $379,000 in Dale City.

Dale City thrives on steadily available jobs, income, access to good schools and universities, and its closeness to cosmopolitan Washington. Residents enjoy local institutions such as the WaterWorks WaterPark, where kids and adults can enjoy slides, pools, fountains, and beach areas. The Dale City Recreation Center similarly reaches out to the community, offering a gym and various work-out classes, martial arts training, daycare, league play for adults and kids, and aquatics.

Golf players in the area have easy access to four Prince William County golf courses. Nature lovers are at home close to roads and trains in the Appalachian Mountains with its scenic overviews and interesting wildlife. The Potomac River here also offers a peaceful escape, whether to picnic on the riverbank or fish or swim the historic waters.

Dale City is home to a number of parks, which offer nature trains, tennis courts, playgrounds, fishing and boating, hiking, and picnic areas. The community is also known for hosting various outdoor festivals, such as the annual Sugarloaf Crafts Festival that features the work of more than 200 artists and artisans.
