Find out how much Burtonsville Real Estate is worth

Burtonsville, Maryland takes its name from Isaac Burton, the first Post Master of the newly established post office in the vicinity, which operated out of Burton's store, beginning in the 1850s. Although settled a long time ago, the area did not grow significantly until after the 1960s.

Today, the nearly 12,000 residents of Burtonsville, enjoy a quiet life in a relatively affordable neighborhood of good schools, low crime, and numerous parks that also happens to be just a short drive away from the nation's cosmopolitan capital.

Employment, shopping, entertainment and history are just a short drive from Burtonsville. Located in Montgomery County, one of the most affluent and culturally diverse counties in the country, the city offers residents a relaxed, country-like atmosphere.

Burtonsville has five county parks that offer athletic fields, picnic areas, playgrounds, bike and hiking trails, and tennis and basketball courts. Fairland Regional Park is the home of Fairland Community Center with a variety of classes, meeting rooms, and recreation opportunities. The nearby large Patuxent River State Park offers hunting, hiking, fishing, and equestrian areas.

As part of the Montgomery County Public School System, children here enroll in prestigious K-12 schools that boast excellent performance on national standardized tests, and high graduation rates. Most students go on to pursue a college degree.
