Broad Run Real Estate

Broad Run, Virginia, is a peaceful and friendly rural-like community located along Interstate 66 and about 50 miles outside of the nation's capital. Some 2,000 residents of diverse cultural backgrounds call the area home. Broad Run is part of Fauquier County, one of Virginia's fastest growing regions. The area experienced a construction and population growth boom starting the 1960s.

Today, the real estate market consists mostly of single-family homes made of red brick. Many of the properties have wrap-around or front porches where residents in the summer can enjoy a cooling drink while watching their children play in the yard or garden. White picket fences surround the smaller homes in Broad Run.

The median home price in this low crime, quiet community of tree lined streets is about $300,000. The larger estates and farms go for as high as $825,000. Most available real estate ranges in price from $170,000 to $490,000.

The community offers local children an education that is ranked among the very best in Virginia. Class sizes average about a dozen students, making the teacher to student ratio highly favorable. Nearly all high schoolers earn a diploma, and many of them go on to pursue a college degree. Numerous higher education institutions are located nearby, including George Mason University and the University of Maryland.

A community populated mainly by home owners, Broad Run has very few renters, and is mixed in age. It is predominantly home to families with children, although a few singles call Broad Run home. Few of the residents make the long commute for work to Washington. Most work in Maryland suburbs and closer to home.

Broad Run has a thriving local economy. While unemployment nationwide is at about 5 percent, it is only half of that here. Recent job growth is higher than in most American communities, and projected job creation is expected to outpace the national rate even more.
