Ashburn Real Estate

Ashburn is a growing town of nearly 40,000 residents located in Loudoun County, about 30 miles west of Washington, DC. It is conveniently located on Route 7 and is near the Dulles Toll Road, so commuting from Ashburn is easy. This makes it a popular place to people who work in neighboring Northern Virginia areas, or in the nation's capitol.

Ashburn is home to the Washington Redskins football team, the National Crash Analysis Center and the Old Dominion Brewing Company. In addition, Ashburn is home to AOL, MCI, Equinix, the Howard Hughes Medical Institute at Janelia Farm, and many other hi-tech corporations.

Ashburn is a good choice for families, given Loudoun County's excellent public schools. There are more teachers per student here than in the average American community. Students perform well on national tests, and most of them not only graduate high school, but also go on to pursue college degrees.

The average home in Ashburn sold for $563,445 in January 2006, which buys a comfortable two to four bedroom house. Predominantly made up of single-family homes, Ashburn offers potential buyers choices between newer homes and older homes, and row house units, attached homes, or condo units within complexes or high rise buildings.

Ashburn residents are very well educated, with nearly two-thirds having a bachelor's or higher degree. This translates into a wealthy community, with the average household income being twice as high as the national average.
As the area grows, so do employment opportunities. The unemployment rate among Ashburn residents is less than half the national rate. Jobs opportunities are growing at a speed three times faster than nationwide, and the projected future job growth is even higher.

Ashburn benefits economically from its proximity to Dulles technology hub, and the trade opportunities surrounding the nearby Washington Dulles International Airport.
